Guyana launched its Green Economy Development Strategy in 2016. These initiatives aim to transform Guyana’s electricity sector from nearly 100% fossil fuel based to nearly 100% renewable energy based. The achievement of this objective supported the development of the hydropower projects, as well as solar and wind power. Energy generation through wind power is undeveloped in Guyana, notwithstanding the country’s significant potential for wind-based energy generation.
- Development of medium and small hydroelectric facilities.
- Equipmente and development of wind and solar farms.
- Importation and instalation of solar panels for both residential and commercial use.
